The St. Luke’s Prayer Shawl Ministry was formed in October 2016. Fr. Neil Tadken immediately dubbed us the Holy Handworkers.
Care and the love of handcrafting have been combined into a prayerful ministry that reaches out to those in need of comfort and solace or celebration. Many blessings are stitched into every item. The crafter begins each item with prayers for the recipient. Intentions are continued throughout the creation. When the item is completed it is blessed before being sent along its way, once a month at a regular Sunday service or individually as needed. Every item is an expression of love, comfort, and care created by the Prayer Shawl Ministry of St. Luke’s, Monrovia. Our hope is that each person is embraced and warmed by the care with which each item is made.
The Holy Handworkers meet on the 1st and 3rd Mondays of the month at 10 AM in the church library. The meetings provide time for the members to work on various projects, enjoy fellowship, and share project ideas. All interested persons are welcome.
